Lonnie Donegan Autograph Signed "Skiffle Folk Music" LP Cover & 78 "Putting On The Style" / "Gamblin' Man" #1 Single
Two items signed by Lonnie Donegan: The cover only for the album "Skiffle Folk Music", and the 78 single "Putting On The Style" b/w "Gamblin' Man". The album cover is signed on the reverse in black felt tip "Thanks Lonnie". The Atlantic Records album "Skiffle Folk Music" was released in 1960. The cover shows signs of wear, the glossy front cover displays a great color photo of Lonnie. The 78 is signed on the paper sleeve with salutations on both sides, once as just Lon. The paper sleeve of the 78 shows signs of wear, one signature somewhat faded. The vinyl record shows a number of scratches which may affect play. Both songs were recorded during Lonnie's performance at the London Palladium on May 9, 1957. This single was #1 on the UK charts in July 1957, at the time Paul McCartney first met John Lennon. The Quarreymen were initially formed as a skiffle group, trying to emulate Lonnie and his style of music. These are from the collection of veteran Kansas City area DJ Dan (Oberholtz) Diamond. Over many decades, Dan met and interviewed all the major artists passing through Kansas City. He was also known for his vast record collection. Please request further scans.
