James Dean Multi Signed Photo "Has Anybody Seen My Gal?" Lobby Cards & "Giant" Soundtrack Album LP Record Rock Hudson Piper Laurie Autograph
This is three items: two black and white movie stills, and a soundtrack album. The photos are from "Has Anybody Seen My Gal?". One photo has been signed by James Dean along the right border in ballpoint or biro pen. Dean made at least three other attempts to sign the photo, but the pen failed, possibly due to the slick photo surface. The indentations can be seen with proper lighting, I will gladly send photos I have attempted where they can be somewhat seen. The second photo has been signed by Rock Hudson and Piper Laurie in ballpoint or biro pen. On the reverse is written "James Dean soda fountain clerk(?)" Dean had a small uncredited role in the film. Though not certain, I believe this could be in James Dean's hand also, especially considering the contextual provenance of these other items. Both photos have the lower title trips cut off and taped to the reverse. I have had a number of other signed movie photos from the same collection that were prepared this way also. The third item is the soundtrack album to the film "Giant" signed on the front cover by Rock Hudson in black ballpoint or biro pen. The album cover shows signs of wear, some splitting to top and bottom seams. Former owner's name and address stamped near the top of the back cover. The vinyl record shows a number of scratches which may affect play. Dean's signature is of course rare in any form. This may well be the only photos signed by him from this early film appearance. This is from the estate of veteran DJ Dan (Oberholtz) Diamond. Dan worked for decades largely in the Kansas City area, and also for many years in San Antonio. He had many stars on his broadcasts, and often MC'ed their appearances in his area. He amassed a large collection of signed records and film memorabilia.
